STORIES
A quote from Graham Green in “The End of an Affair” reads, “A story has no beginning or end: arbitrarily one chooses that moment of experience from which to look back or from which to look ahead.
Often times we never get to choose that moment, but by sheer and random chance meet someone who shares their story. I believe that everyone has a story to tell, from the eight-year-old growing up in 1950s in old Wailuku town on Maui to the 37-year-old rickshaw driver in Makassar, Sulawesi, Indonesia, to the 31-year-old Vietnamese girl under pressure to get married. For the most part, their stories would remain undiscovered, but for a brief encounter when a point in time revealed their tale.

Some stories are personal and intimate and others are whimsical and even comical. For most, it is a point in time with no further development. For some, like Little Pang, her story continues for several years. For the most part, the identities of the subjects are disguised out of respect for their privacy.

Several hundred stories will eventually be added and catalogued. If you enjoy it, share this non commercial blog with others. esh
